Meet Adelle Stewart: Wilderness Webinar Clinician

Adelle Stewart has spent her life loving horses. As her passion is centered around the equine industry, Adelle has competed at the novice level in multiple English and Western riding events.

Growing up, Adelle wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, but after realizing the amount of school required prior to slipping on that elusive white coat, she changed paths. Training horses was her second idea; however, as she states, she’s not as gifted in the training industry as others. After stumbling into equine first-aid, Adelle has paved a path to success and has led others and their horses to a healthier and safer lifestyle.

In 2017, she created Prime Equine as a certified equine first-aid instructor. As her company flourished, she became even more passionate about prevention, rehabilitation, and holistic horse keeping. Through the years, Prime Equine has grown to be a boutique boarding facility and offers nutrition consulting and hoof care to compliment her health and safety advocacy. Not only is Adelle a faithful horse safety advocate, but she is also the executive director for the Do More Ag Foundation, a Canadian non-profit that is breaking the stigma on mental health in rural communities and educating psychologists and doctors about the rigors of rural life.

There’s not a better place to spend a summer day than trail riding through the backcountry. Before hitting the trails, make sure you are prepared and ready to take on any challenges that come your way! As Adelle shared, 80% of first-aid is the prevention of ever needing first-aid. Regardless if you are just going on a leisurely 1-hour stroll in your backyard, Adelle encourages you to bring several items and prepare to be gone for the day. These can include water, snacks, a multitool, and an extra bridle.

Inconveniences happen when you’re relying on animals and equipment. For example, a bridle breaks, or your horse throws a shoe. It is always best to bet on yourself and be prepared than betting on equipment and hoping that nothing goes wrong.

Before summer strikes, prepare your very own first-aid kit and become familiar with trail tips and horse hacks in our next Wilderness Wednesday Webinar with Adelle on June 9th at 5:30 pm PST. If you missed the first webinar on May 12th, you can find it on our YouTube channel
