3 Tricks and Tips for your pet during Halloween!

Halloween is just around the corner, and while this can be a fun time for people and pets alike, we encourage you to keep your pet’s health and safety in mind. There’s more to protect them from than just the dangerous goblins and ghouls that this holiday brings. Here are a few tips to keep your animals safe this Halloween season!

Trick or treat, give your pets something safe to eat!

Even in the middle of all the fun, please remember trick-or-treat candies are not for pets. Toxic ingredients aren’t the only thing you need to worry about; the wrappers of candies are dangerous for pets to consume. It’s okay to want to treat your pet during the holidays, but make sure it’s a pet-friendly treat!

Lots of dog owners celebrate Halloween by dressing up their dogs too! As much as we love this, if you dress up your dog or any other pet, make sure the costume isn’t constricting, annoying, or unsafe. Costumes will be fun for your pets when they fit well, not too tight or loose, with nothing obstructing their vision or prohibiting them from walking normally.

Who let the pets out?
If you have trick-or-treaters coming to your house, make sure all animals are safely put away. With frequent visitors to your yard and opening your front door often, we don’t want any animals to get out. If you choose to take your dog trick-or-treating with you, we recommend using a leash, regardless of how well they listen. You never know how busy the streets will be and if other dogs will be out and about.

Even with the excitement of candy and costumes, consider these tips to keep your fur-babies safe over Halloween! They rely on us to keep them safe every day, no matter if it’s a holiday.
